MEET THE PHOTOGRAPHER
Hi, I’m Heather, the photographer behind Martello Photography. I believe photography should feel comfortable, honest, and human, not stiff, rushed, or performative. Whether I’m documenting a wedding day, creating portraits, or welcoming someone into my studio for boudoir or headshots, my goal is always the same, to help you feel like yourself in front of the camera.
I’ve been a photographer for 25 + years, starting back in the film days, and I still carry that same love for storytelling, light, and connection into everything I do today. While the tools have evolved, the heart of my work hasn’t. It’s always been about people. My studio is located in Historic Bridge Street in Ashtabula, Ohio, and it’s designed to feel warm, relaxed, and welcoming. No pressure. No awkward posing. Just guidance, encouragement, and a pace that lets you breathe.
For couples, I focus on capturing real moments, the quiet ones, the laughter, the in-between glances that actually tell your story. There’s no need to perform or pretend. If you’re calm and laid-back, that’s perfect. If you laugh nonstop, even better. Every relationship is different, and honoring that is what makes the images meaningful.
For portraits, boudoir, seniors, and headshots, I know being photographed can feel intimidating. I’ll guide you every step of the way, from posing to expression to what to do with your hands, and I promise, you don’t need to know how to “model” to walk away feeling confident. When you work with me, you’re working with a professional who cares deeply about the experience, not just the final images. I collaborate with experienced, trusted second shooters, when needed for larger weddings, and every session and wedding is handled with care, intention, and respect.
Photography has always been my passion, now it’s my profession. I feel incredibly grateful to do this work and to create images that people will return to years from now and say, “That feels like us.”
